end game
hello all,
I played GW when factions just launched. I made a Assasin/war and he is level 20. Back then the assasin wasnt all that good (or i wasnt) and i quit. now i recently returned to play. What should i be doing at level 20? is there any reason to pve at that level. And the pvp part...why should i do pvp? Do i get rewards / make my toon better? If its just for rankings then /yawn...i wanna put efford in a toon and make it better. Game has some nice potential but whats the end-game? |

You are your best at level 20. If you have max armor and max daggers, you just can't really get better, other than how you use your skills and what skills you get.
End game for Guild Wars is Hard Mode. Getting elite armors, they're just for looks. Maxing titles. PvP, and no you don't get anything good from PvP besides titles. You can also buy all the dagger skins out there for no reason other than to clog your storage. There are also the elite areas. DoA for Nightfall. FoW and UW for all campaigns and Urgoz or The Deep for Factions. If you don't find PvP fun, or one of those things I listed above fun, there is no other reason to be playing this game. |

Finishing the PvE campaigns, getting cash, buying armor, rare weapons, moving into PvP, and overall becoming a better player through your experiences.
Then doing it again with a new character and proffession. |

If you thought the aim of the game was to reach level 20, then you're playing the wrong game.

I was asking whawt the aim of the game is...
Cause pvping just to get on a list is not worth my time. If i could get rewards doing it...and with it enhance my character it would be intresting tho. I thought this was a RPG and not a frag based game like quake. I know i sound verry harsh...its not as bad as i make it sound but i get my point across better like this. So sorry in advance |

All you can play any computer game for is looks - computer games are, after all, simply pixels moving around on a screen. WoW, Diablo, whatever, all any of them are is appearances. |

I honestly dont think GW is for you. Sounds like you want a game like WoW or EQ that req. extensive grinding to have better equipt. to be able to "pwn". In GW, it's all about the skills you use and how you use them. |

End game is about improving YOUR ability to play the game. The monsters will still get bigger, but your toon's power is at its peak. Character growth is not about how much damage you can deal or take, but rather about how many skills can you collect and whether you can come up with good ways to build an eight slot skillbar from them.

Now completing all 3 games and the expansion pack gives you a wealth of different skill combos for both pve and pvp. If ya not sure cause you have just come back to game just jump on pvxwiki.com or here and try one of the pre-made builds or even better try ya own. Achieving titles gives you a feeling of achievement, and demonstrates your mastery of certain sections of the game. I can only dream of coming back now and being able to both Vanquish, Elite Skill cap and map the area in one go achieving 3 titles at once! Jump on Guild wiki to see what you fancy pursuing. If you are going to follow the titles path, I recommend elite skill capping. Not only do you gain experience, but you also gain much needed skills for you and heros but also the chance of perfect green drops! Just an idea. Otherwise, go and grind on WOW |

Not intended to flame, cause I understand what you are talking about. But have you ever played a pick-up game of basketball or football or whatever with buddies at the park. What do you get as a reward, trophy? money? NBA contract? Na, you get nothing other than the feeling of winning and having fun.
Same as this game, you play to have fun, have a good time with guild buddies, and if in the meantime, you accumulate game $, why not spend the pretend $ on dressing up your doll (haha btw funny comment). What else are you gonna spend it on? This is especially applicable to PvP. You get nothing other than Balthazar faction and the knowledge that you made someone, somewhere else in the world, rethink their build and feel a little bad. Same as a game of basketball with your friends. |

Edit: If you aren't talking PC, and mean playing those games for real, it's kind of a mute argument in an online gaming forum ... Ultimately, people need to stop bickering over PvE versus PvP. I've seen it in every game of this ilk I've played. Guild Wars supports both, so take your pick. My guess is the people that enjoy both and don't feel the need to take an elitist stance on one or the other are the ones that get the most enjoyment from the game. The point of my post was in response to the OP, not a statment saying online gaming is equal in all aspects to physical activity. It was an analogy just stating you dont have to do something to get a reward/item etc, but you can do it just to have fun as a reason.
Aapo you even state in your prior post that those activities that you list (soccer) are played for competition and to have fun. Again the comparison is in reasons for doing something for fun, not saying online games are equal to anything else. In fact I'd say online gaming gives a person nearly nothing in terms of physical, social or spiritual improvement (more likely detrimental). In terms of Endorphin release, well that depends on what you are doing online, haha. In terms of what you experience when you play, isnt necessarily what everyone experiences or how they play. |
